2023 came to an exciting close for the Hardin family! In November, we found out we’ll be expecting our first baby in July! We’re so excited to be growing our family! As a first time mom, I’m excited to dive into converting our guest room into a space just for our baby: the nursery!
We decided to do a private gender reveal in the future nursery. My best friend (and photographer Tori Kelner) was sent the test results and she chose a corresponding paint color for us. While blindfolded, my husband and I painted a heart on the wall using the paint she selected. She counted us down and we took off the blindfolds to see that…IT’S A GIRL!!!! Ryan and I were both ecstatic!
After finding out baby Hardin is a girl, the nursery plans really got underway! I had initially started sketching some neutral designs to help the wheels start turning. Knowing that we’re having a girl, I decided to lean into pinks and florals! I just recently got an iPad to use as a tool for sketching and design. I’m learning to use Procreate for sketching. I started with a photograph of the current guest room, and drew on top of it! It’s a rough interpretation – and with more practice I’m sure my sketching will get better, but this was a good start for a game plan! Check out my room design sketch below!
We just moved into our house 2 years ago. The guest room has been one of the rooms we have yet to tackle in terms of any kind of specific design or aesthetic. A nursery conversion is giving us the perfect opportunity to do that!
Here are some “before” photos of the space how we’ve been using it as a guest room!
I already had the goal of completing the nursery before our baby shower (June 2nd). Being that we are wedding photographers with a very busy June, having some breathing room of completing the nursery before June would be ideal. The Spring 2024 One Room Challenge is the perfect motivation to keep this room on track to be finished by the deadline I was hoping for! I’m looking forward to sharing the progress of this transformation throughout the challenge, and connecting with other ORC participants! Let’s do this this!
