We’ve been working on getting our yard prepared for hosting some outdoor events in the coming weeks and months. My most recent task was weeding out some of the MANY dandelions, onion grasses, and other weeds throughout the lawn and garden beds. We had so many that it was quite the undertaking. But we have one gardening tool that made this task manageable for me at 25 weeks pregnant. My number one gardening tool recommendation for pregnancy is Grampa’s Weeder!
Being pregnant, bending over is getting a little (sometimes a lot) uncomfortable. But I still wanted to help with some of the yard work! Being able to easily pull weeds with this tool, and not need to bend over nearly as much was a game changer.
I filled up nearly an entire trashcan with weeds and it took me about 2.5 hours of work. Our lawn is already looking much better to me!
Using this tool is really simple! All you have to do is center it over the weed. Step on it to press it into the ground. Then use the handle leverage to pop the weed out of the ground. If you’ve gotten a good grip the whole thing will come out, roots and all! For very large weeds or when you don’t quite hit the center it may take a couple of attempts to get the whole thing out. With practice it gets easier to get it all in one shot!
I know I’m sharing this recommendation geared towards my fellow pregnant mamas, but honestly we use this tool all the time! I just realized how especially helpful it is during pregnancy. But because it pulls the weeds out using leverage, and grabs them at the root, it’s very effective for efficient weeding!
Get your own “Grampa’s Weeder” here! It’s especially helpful while pregnant, but truly makes weeding easier for anytime! I highly recommend it!
